SBT announces winners of IQ Awards

Small Business Times announces the winners of the 2007 IQ (Innovation Quotient) Awards.

The awards celebrate southeastern Wisconsin companies and nonprofit organizations that are truly innovative with their products, services or processes and are having a positive impact on the region.

The IQ winners are:

  • Bowers & Associates Inc., Franklin. The company developed an online employee health plan evaluation system.
  • The IBEW Great Lakes Training program. The program provides training and inspiration for middle school children to pursue careers in the skilled trades. The program is a partnership of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) #2150 and #952; We Energies in Milwaukee; American Transmission Co. (ATC) in Eaukesha; Pieper Electric Inc. in Milwaukee; and Michels Corp. in Brownsville.
  • Lakefront Brewery, Milwaukee. The company developed a gluten-free, kosher beer.
  • The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. The organization is the first orchestra in the world to produce and sell its binaural recordings online.
  • Northwoods Software Development Inc., Milwaukee. The company developed Titan Version 4, a new Web site content management system.
  • Poblocki Sign Co. LLC, West Allis. The company developed and manufactures the "Whirlybird," a new moving display advertising system.
  • Safe Building Solutions, Waukesha. The company launched "el:Kitchen," a new line of environmentally sustainable kitchen cabinetry.
  • Shorewest Realtors, Brookfield. The company is the first real estate company in the nation to start its own television channel, Shorewest TV.
  • Simix Reactive Solutions LLC, Kenosha. The company developed the Simix Algae & Mold Preventer, a chemical compound that uses the ultra violet rays of the sun and artificial lighting to break down and loosen organic dirt and prevent algae and mold growth on surfaces.
  • Wixon Inc., St. Francis. The company created breakthrough Mag-nifique Flavor Technologies that make healthy foods taste better.
  • To be eligible, the organizations must be based in Wisconsin and have a physical presence in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee, Washington, Sheboygan, Racine, Walworth or Kenosha County.

 

The winners will be recognized at the IQ Awards Luncheon on May 2 and featured in Small Business Times.
The IQ award winners will be featured throughout the two days of the third annual Wisconsin Business & Technology Expo (www.biztimes.com/expo), which will take place May 2-3 at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
